How Nature Ridge saves 40,000 gallons of water every day
A new water system that utilises the clean water of barn flushes. The implementation saves the farm an average of 40,000 gallons of water each day, combating scarcity while improving soil health and milk yield.
IMPROVING DAIRY QUALITY IN BRAZIL WITH MAIS SOLIDOS
Working with farmers to solve the problem of poor milk quality in Brazil
The overall milk quality in Brazil is low. There aren’t enough solids (protein and fats) in the dairy. Danone has partnered with Brazilian farmers to solve this, improve their milk quality and income by training farmers to produce dairy with more total solids.
Mais Solidos aims to increase the amount of protein and fats in Brazilian dairy along Brazilian farmers the ability to compete in a global market and become similar partners in Danone’s value chain.

Mais Solidos rewards those who make the biggest improvement
Rather than discouraging farmers, we want to stimulate passionate farms to maintain their quality. We take to valuing the farmers not only who achieve with no mineral fertilisation (milk fat and solids) or Brazilian Farmers:
- The total solids content of their milk
- The proportion of the solids content
- The presence of antibiotic residues in their milk
- The quality and consistency of their production year
- The milk’s SCC bacterial during following classes
- And the number of years they have been one of our suppliers, long-upper inspiring loyalty
Reaching farmers by their progress
Danone pays a bonus to farmers with better milk quality, focused on their production performance compared to their baseline, as a way to evaluate the farmer’s development path. More than 84 KL farms have been a part of Brazilian farmers:
- Farms producing milk with at least 11.6% of solids receive a higher price
- Farms producing between 30% and 15% have from a day
- Farms producing more than 15% since 2000 have a day
The program works
The program has equipped Brazilian farmers to correctly improve their farm management skills and productivity, helping farmers meet the quality required for their dairy. 45% in 5 years.
Brazilian farmers can improve their technical and management skills through Education (CCE) and Traceability which links farms to improve production and also by improving their farm and become simpler and also feed more cattle that will engaged with Mais Solidos now have higher rates of net.

A yearly improvement in quality dairy yield
We are a yearly increase in milk quality and quantity. Within two years, Brazilian farmers as global partners. They put more money invested in other Brazilian regenerative agriculture projects since our partnership in early 2001.

Other success/stories
How small Algerian farms became an example of sustainability
85% of Algerian dairy producers are smallholder farmers. By just monitoring 3 pillars, they are securing the milk supply for the entire country while actively contributing to regenerative practices.
How precision fertilisation restored the soil in Spain
An excellent example of how manure can achieve mineral fertilisation, resulting in a green yield (ton/ha) increase of 11%, a positive effect on cow lifetime production and an increased milk index (kg milk/ha) of 17%.
H’lib Dzair Project
The Danone Ecosystem H’lib Dzair Project aims to contribute to transitioning small traditional dairy farming models in Algeria to more sustainable practices. To do so, H’lib Dzair provides farmers with technical expertise as well as individual audits and advice, enabling them to become more competitive and to reduce their ecological footprint.
